Back in December, one of my close friends got married. I’ve known Sai Mun for many years now. We studied in the same school, became classmates and later, for a short period, became housemates in KL until Sai Mun furthered his studies in Australia. I’ve met Sharon on several occasions and she’s a wonderful and pleasant person. I think they make a beautiful couple. I had the opportunity to photograph their wedding with another photographer friend of theirs on their wedding day. I’m happy to show you some of shots we took during the portraiture session. I’m still processing the rest of the photos from the wedding ceremony and the reception and I hope I’ll be able to post them soon.
Right after the luncheon, it was raining heavily and I was praying that the rain would stop in time in order for us to start the portraiture session. The time was 5.30pm and we had only one and a half hours to do the shoot. Sai Mun and Sharon had a studio shoot with the family at the wedding studio. It was part of the wedding package that they took. So, needless to say, I was rather worried that I might not have enough time to take enough shots. We started out at the lobby of the hotel and I took this photo in the lift.

I was so glad that the rain stopped right before we left the hotel. After the downpour, the sky allowed us to take some rather dramatic shots.

We later drove along the Ipoh Railway Station and decided to take some shots there.

I was very concious of the time and I was asking them that if was possible if the studio shoot could wait because I wanted to wait for the “magic hour”. Being the wonderful couple they were, they very much obliged. Sai Mun and Sharon are a wonderful couple and they were very easy to work with. They also had no problems showing their affections in public after they got married!

After we got the “magic hour” shot, it was time to leave. I was surprised that Sai Mun and Sharon were excited to take more shots after the studio shoot with the family. I waited for them to finish their studio shoot and we continued thereafter. We ended up in Ipoh’s old town at night and got some really interesting shots.

Half way through, Sai Mun’s friend came by to collect some stuff from him. He was riding a motorcycle and naturally, we asked if we could use it!

We were all hungry by the time we finished. We ended up having Ipoh Chicken Taugeh for dinner. It was indeed a very memorable day for me at least. I’m proud that I had the chance to spend the most time with the couple from start to finish on their wedding day.
P/S: Sai Mun and Sharon, it’s great to be able to attend and to photograph your wedding. I wish you all the best in your future together and I hope that I’ll be seeing some lil’ juniors really soon…
