Weekends, Weekends, Weekends!

Posted by | Posted in Personal | Posted on 02-03-2009

I just got back from KL and found out that there’s water leaking from the roof at my apartment. I had to clean up the mess and it’s no joy cleaning up rain water after a long drive from KL to Singapore. After picking up photography, I spend more of my weekends back in Malaysia than I do in Singapore. Which wasn’t what I intended it to be when I first moved to Singapore, two years ago. The constant traveling is reminiscence of those days when I traveled back to KL on Fridays after work to spend time with my then fiancee, preparing for our wedding and then back to Singapore on Sunday evening. It was a tiresome journey but it was all worth it. I absolutely loved it back then. I started to miss those days because it was something that I looked forward to during the end of the week.

Just as it is now, it is truly worth it. It gives me the excuse to come home once in a while to spend time with my family and loved ones. This weekend, I managed to catch up with close friends and to meet new people. I had appointment after appointment and I was really enjoying myself. I was practically camping at McDonald’s which seemed to be the best meet up place for me.

If you would like to catch up with me over coffee or tea, just give me a call or message me on Facebook. I will squeeze in some time with you if possible as I would love to know how your life has been going. I’d like to hear which TV Drama series you are following or what you did to your neighbour’s cat or your opinion as to why Brad Pitt didn’t win the Grammy’s.

I’ll be traveling the next few weekends to Malaysia again and hopefully, I will have the chance to meet up with you in the coming weeks. I’m excited how adventurous my life has become. I only wished that I could clock frequent flyer miles on my Vios ;-)

Zero to Heroes

Posted by | Posted in Personal, Photography | Posted on 16-02-2009

I had fun during a photo shoot last weekend with a bunch of amazing people. I met some of them from last year’s Planetshakers and Tim Hughes Worship Concert in Singapore. We found ourselves having common interests and quickly became friends with a cause. They are involved in a non-profit initiative called Zero To Hero. A programme which involves school kids who have zero knowledge in music but within several months become heroes in the chosen music instrument that they plan to master. Thus the title, Zero To Hero. The “zeroes” as we would like to call them before they graduate into “heroes” are required to form their own band. After several months, they will perform on stage in a final concert and graduate as heroes.

Here are some shots from the hot afternoon shoot that we did on Sunday.

I am definitely a Hero to Zero because I have not played bass for over 3 years now. I’m not sure if I can pull out some funky grooves anymore. Those who have seen my Facebook video would know that I am soooo funk-ilicious!

***Behind the scenes…

My lovely assistant for the day! Gerald, is probably one of the nicest people I know. He’s got a really infectious smile and a caring heart. Bless you, bro!

John and Fyon, love the T-shirts!

… and I kept the best for last! There’s also James, Dawn and my beauuuutiful Alien Bee, as you can see, James is truly committed. I’ve gotta learn that, man.

I got home in the evening and my wife said that I look like a real “man”. Referring to the golden tan I got from standing in the hot sun for so long. Those who know me, would know that I have pretty fair skin. I obviously can’t recall the last time I had sunburn.

Wedding of Sai Mun & Sharon: Wedding Day

Posted by | Posted in Weddings | Posted on 25-01-2009

It’s Chinese New Year eve today and I would like to wish everyone a very blessed Chinese New Year. I hope everyone is having a great time with their family members. It took me about 9 hours to reach KL yesterday. Three long hours stuck at the Singapore Causeway. I thought that if we left earlier (like 4am), we would beat the traffic. Boy, I was wrong! During this festive celebration, I pray that you would have a great time and have a safe trip back to your hometowns.

Since it’s reunion dinner night, I would keep this post short and just post some pictures from Sai Mun and Sharon’s wedding day. You probably would have seen the portraiture shoot I did for them in an earlier post. There are so many pictures to choose from but I decided to pick a few for your enjoyment.

While we were sitting around, I saw a beam of light shining on the bouquet. I did not hesitate to take this shot below.

Finally a group shot of the boys and myself. We’ve been friends for 15 years. It’s great that Sai Mun decided to join the bandwagon.
